We handle plumbing in Goodfield, IL from our base in Washington, about 11 miles and 15 minutes away. Goodfield is a village of fewer than a thousand people that sits in two counties, and its water and sewer systems are young by municipal standards, so the questions here are about connections, not century-old mains. About a third of its homes went up after 1999.

Which Pipe Is the Village's in Goodfield?

Goodfield incorporated in 1957. Public water arrived in 1960 and the sewer system followed in 1980, according to the village's own history, and both have been upgraded since. So the sewer is about 45 years old, not a century.

The line that matters is the lateral, the pipe from your foundation to the main. It is normally the owner's to maintain. A cleanout in the lawn lets us run a sewer camera inspection to see the tap point, and that footage tells you whether to call the village about the main.

One Goodfield Home in Three Went Up After 1999

The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 estimate puts Goodfield's median build year at 1991. Nineteen percent of homes date from 2000 to 2009 and 16 percent from 2010 to 2019, while 12 percent predate 1940. The village has grown from 686 residents in 2000 to 936 in 2020.

Newer homes use PEX supply lines and plastic drains, so we see more water heaters, fixtures and sump pumps than pipe failures. The farm-town originals bring galvanized supply pipe and older drains. A home-buyer camera inspection is worth it for either kind.

Water around the foundation is the local risk. Goodfield sits near 702 feet in farm country, and level ground with silty soil, the kind Central Illinois farmers tile to drain, gives a heavy rain nowhere fast to go. The Peoria area averages 37.5 inches of precipitation a year, so test the sump before spring, not during it. Winter adds to it: Peoria's snowiest day on record dropped 12.2 inches in January 1979, and all that melts toward a basement wall.

Larger work runs through the village. It has adopted the 2014 Illinois State Plumbing Code and the 2024 International Residential Code, and it asks for 24 to 48 hours' notice before any inspection.

Plumbing Questions in Goodfield

Where does the village's pipe end and mine begin in Goodfield?
The mains in the street are the village's to maintain. The lateral from your foundation to the main is normally the owner's, and the cleanout or tap point is the usual dividing mark. If a backup starts, a camera run from your cleanout shows which side the trouble is on, and the village office at 114 S Eureka St can tell you about its mains.
Did Goodfield's utility rates change recently?
They did this year. The village posted a notice of utility rate increases effective May 1, 2026, so check the current schedule with the village before you budget. Rates cover the village water and sewer service only. The plumbing inside your house, including the water heater and the drain lines, is separate, and we handle that side.
Is there a Goodfield home on septic instead of village sewer?
Possibly, on rural lots near the village edge. The village sewer system was built in 1980, so homes outside its lines may use a septic tank. Septic pumping and installs are a separate licensed trade. We work on house drains and the pipe up to the system, so we can tell you what is on your lot.
